Jan is an art historian, licensed guide, and founder of We Guide Vienna. Together with his sister Maria, a photographer, he creates immersive and unique tours in Vienna and Austria.
We Guide Vienna offers history, culture, art, architecture, music, and gastronomy tours, blending rich storytelling, humor, and deep knowledge.
What makes Jan’s stories captivating is his vast expertise paired with his witty and charming personality, making history engaging and easy to follow. His unique path explains it all.
Born in 1988 in Oslo, Norway, Jan has roots in Norway, Poland, and France. Fluent in six languages, he has collected stories since 2009 through academic studies in Art History at the University of Oslo and six years as a traveling storyteller across Europe and North America.
Since 2017, Jan has called Vienna home, drawn by its history, art, and exceptional quality of life.
Jan’s journey gives him a deep perspective on history and culture, enabling him to connect meaningfully with international guests. His warm, passionate hosting style ensures every tour is special and unforgettable.
Maria is a professional photographer, social media manager, and Jan’s younger sister. A passionate traveler, she studied photography at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. When the pandemic limited her opportunities in New York, Maria joined Jan in Vienna to continue her craft. She quickly fell in love with the city’s vibrant atmosphere and rich culture.
Currently, Maria conducts photo workshops and tours while establishing her own photo studio in Vienna, specializing in her unique concept of modern boudoir photography.
When she’s not behind the camera or instructing, Maria enjoys soaking up the sun on the Danube Island, bouldering, networking, and experimenting with delicious recipes in the kitchen.
